What the Urdu Margin Calculator Does

The Urdu Margin Calculator works out the profit margin, which is the profit measured as a share of the selling price. You enter the cost and the selling price, and it gives the profit and the margin percentage, shown in Urdu with the word منافع for profit.

Margin is the figure businesses use to see how much of each sale is profit.

Everything runs on your own device. Your figures are never uploaded or stored, so they stay private while you calculate.

How to Work Out a Margin

  1. Enter the cost price. Type what the item cost you.
  2. Enter the selling price. Type what you sell it for.
  3. Read the result. The profit and the margin percentage appear in Urdu.
  4. Copy or download. Copy the result, or save it as a text file.
Tip: Margin is measured against the selling price, not the cost.

The Margin Formula

The profit is the selling price less the cost price, and the margin is the profit divided by the selling price, times one hundred. So a cost of 2000 rupees and a selling price of 2500 gives a 500 rupee profit, and a margin of 500 divided by 2500, times 100, which is 20 percent.

Margin and Markup

Margin and markup use the same profit but a different base. Margin is the profit as a share of the selling price, while markup is the profit as a share of the cost. For the same sale, the markup percentage is larger than the margin percentage.

The Urdu Result

The profit is written in Urdu words with the word روپے, and the margin ends with فیصد. So a margin of 20 percent reads as بیس فیصد.

Who Uses This Calculator

Shopkeepers and traders use it to see the margin on a sale. Businesses use it to set prices. Anyone pricing goods uses it to work out the margin in Urdu.

Accuracy and Limits

The calculator is deterministic, so the same prices always give the same margin. It measures the margin against the selling price and rounds amounts to two decimals. For the profit as a share of the cost, use a markup calculator.

Good to know: the Urdu words display best with an Urdu Nastaliq font.

Your Data Stays Private

The calculator runs fully in your browser with standard web technology. Your figures are not uploaded or stored, and they are not sent to any analytics service. Only your star rating is sent, to record the tool’s rating. When you close the page, your input is gone.
