How to Practise Typing

1. Get a sentence. Press New Sentence to load a Roman Urdu line to type.

How WPM Is Measured

Words per minute, or WPM, is the standard way to measure typing speed. Following common practice, every five characters you type correctly count as one word. The tool divides your correct characters by five, then by the minutes you have spent, to give your WPM. Because it counts correct characters, mistakes do not inflate your speed.

The number updates as you type, so you can watch it settle. A steady rhythm usually gives a higher WPM than short bursts followed by corrections.

How Accuracy Is Measured

Accuracy is the share of your typed characters that match the sentence. If you type forty characters and thirty-eight are in the right place, your accuracy is ninety-five percent. Errors count the characters that do not match at the moment you are typing them.

Tips to Type Faster

Sit comfortably and keep your wrists relaxed. Look at the sentence, not the keyboard, and let your fingers learn the positions. Aim for accuracy first, because fixing mistakes costs more time than typing carefully. Short, regular sessions build speed better than one long session.

Good to know: Roman Urdu uses ordinary Latin letters, so any keyboard works. The skill you build here carries over to messaging and writing anywhere.
