King Charles Monarchy ‘in Danger’ Just Days Before Australia Tour

King Charles faced another significant challenge ahead of his upcoming historic tour of Australia.

Leaders of the Australian Republic Movement (ARM) have urged him to step down as head of state, as they push for Australia to become a republic.

In response, King Charles stated that he would not interfere if Australians chose to replace him as head of state, expressing his “deep love and affection” for the country.

According to The Mirror, Esther Anatolitis, co-chairwoman of the ARM, shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) stating that this will be the King’s final tour of Australia.

She said, “Welcome to Monarchy: The Farewell Oz Tour. It’s time to wave goodbye to royal reign.”

She further questioned whether it makes sense for the head of state to inherit the role by birthright and not be fully dedicated to Australia.

In contrast, Philip Benwell, chairman of the pro-royal Australian Monarchist League, defended King Charles, calling the ARM’s statements “disrespectful,” especially given the King’s ongoing battle with cancer.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to begin their royal tour of Australia and Samoa on October 18, 2024.
