After reports of a major fight between Elon Musk and Trump’s aide, Boris Epshteyn, at Mar-a-Lago, sources say that Elon Musk is now Donald Trump’s closest advisor and no one else comes close.
According to the New York Post, there is also no chance of a disagreement between Trump and Musk because the CEO of Tesla and DOGE co-chief is “surprisingly agreeable” and is happy to go along with things.
‘Donald Trump Runs Cabinet Picks by Musk’
The report says that Donald Trump checks almost every cabinet choice with Musk, even though there is a whole transition team for that work. This means Musk shares some responsibility for the controversial choices.
While the president-elect makes the final decision, he enjoys Musk’s company and insights, the report mentions.
An insider told the New York Post that Elon feels comfortable giving his thoughts even though Trump makes the final call.
“Sure, it’s competitive, but anyone who has seen the two or been in the room with them knows that Trump treats Elon differently than everyone else,” the source said.
‘Elon Musk is a Free Spirit.’
Axios reported on the big clash between Musk and Boris Epshteyn during dinner, where Musk accused Epshteyn of leaking Trump’s transition details to the press. While Epshteyn denied the accusation, it pointed to some tension at Mar-a-Lago over how close Musk has become to Trump.
The New York Post described Elon Musk as a free spirit at Mar-a-Lago, noting that many people want to take pictures with him. “Everyone wants to pick his brain,” the report quoted a source.
Since Election Night, Musk and Trump have been almost inseparable. During the first week, Musk was seen at Mar-a-Lago every day. Then he was named the co-chief of DOGE. Musk attended a UFC event at Madison Square Garden with Trump, and Trump even flew to Texas to watch the test launch of Musk’s starship rocket.
“What a job he does, and he’s a really good guy,” Trump told his supporters last week when talking about Musk. “He likes this place. I can’t get him to leave. He just loves being here. And you know what? I enjoy having him here, too.”
