Numbers Keep Their Order

Digits form a weak left-to-right run, so a number reads the same inside Urdu as it would in English. The most significant digit stays on the left and the least on the right, and any comma or point inside the number stays put. The whole number sits to the left of the Urdu words, but its own digits do not reverse.

Kinds of Number

The tester finds plain integers, decimals with a point, grouped numbers with commas, percentages with a percent sign, and simple ranges joined by a dash. Each is a number run, and each keeps its order in the right-to-left flow.

Urdu and English Digits

Numbers can be written in English digits or Urdu digits, and the tester finds both. You can also show each number converted to Urdu digits, which is handy when you want the figures to match the Urdu around them.

Good to know: a number spelled in words lays out with the Urdu, not as a number run.
