The Date Keeps Its Order

A date written in digits, with slashes or dashes between the parts, forms a single left-to-right run. That means the day stays first, the month second, and the year third, even inside right-to-left Urdu. The whole date sits to the left of the Urdu words around it, but its own parts do not swap.

Slashes and Dashes

The slash and the dash between the parts of a date are neutral characters, but because they sit between digits, they join the number run and keep their place. So the separators stay put and the date reads correctly, whichever style you use.

Getting Dates Right

Write the date in plain digits with a slash or a dash, and let the browser handle the direction. If a date sits oddly next to a word, a directional mark can fix it, which the directional mark tools can add or check.
