Excess fat can cause many types of cancer.
Becoming overweight could be a crucial risk that is likely to cause four out of 10 malignancies, according to the findings of a comprehensive study.
Obesity can now be connected to 32 forms of cancer, which are 19 more than previously assumed, claimed doctors.
For up to 45 years, the “groundbreaking” research at Lund University in Sweden studied 4.1 million people and analysed 332,501 cancer cases.
The investigation discovered that up to 40% of the instances were caused by the patient’s weight.
Moreover, extra flab was reportedly connected to more cancer kinds than the 13 officially identified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer in 2016, according to The US Sun.
These included malignancies in the mouth, throat, stomach and brain.
Cancers Could Be Averted By Staying Skinny
According to study author Dr. Ming Sun, “Our results suggest that the impact of obesity on cancer might be greater than previously known.”
“It is a risk factor for more cancers, especially of rarer kinds, and some of these have never before been studied in connection to obesity,” she said.
