How to Clean Text

1. Paste your text. Enter or paste the text you want to clean.
2. Choose what to remove. Pick the directional marks, the formatting characters, or both.
3. Read the clean copy. The cleaned text appears, with a count of what was removed.
4. Copy or download. Copy the clean text, or save it as a file.

Marks and Formats

The cleaner splits the characters into two groups. The directional marks, the left-to-right mark, the right-to-left mark, and the Arabic letter mark, act like invisible letters. The formatting characters, the embeddings, overrides, and isolates, open and close direction contexts. You can remove one group, the other, or both.

Keeping Your Content

The cleaner removes only the bidirectional format characters. Your Urdu letters, English words, numbers, spaces, and punctuation are all kept exactly as they were, so the meaning of your text does not change, only the hidden control characters go.

When to Clean

Clean text before saving a file name, storing a value in a database, or publishing content, especially if it was copied from an unknown source. Removing overrides in particular stops text from reading differently from how it is stored.

Accuracy and Limits

The cleaner removes exactly the bidirectional format characters you choose, by their code points, and keeps everything else. It does not change the order of your visible characters, so removing a needed mark could change how a number sits next to Urdu. Check the result if the text mixes direction.
