The Parts of a Reference

A reference is made of a few parts: the author who wrote the work, the title of the work, the publisher who issued it, the city of publication, and the year. Not every reference has all of them, and the formatter joins whichever parts you fill in, in the standard order.

The Punctuation

The formatter separates the parts with the Urdu comma and closes the reference with the Urdu full stop, the usual punctuation for a reference. The title can be set in quotation marks, and the year can be placed in brackets, in the styles that different reference lists use.
