A dad and his teenage son from Australia broke a Guinness World Record by flying a glider and doing 45 inside loops in a row.
David Scutchings, the dad, said he wanted to break a world record for his 50th birthday. He asked his 16-year-old son Max to join him in a DG-1000 glider, and they took off over Gawler, South Australia, according to UPI.
“I’ve always tried to be a good example, especially for my family, to show that setting goals, working hard, and staying focused helps you reach your dreams. That’s exactly how we got this record,” David told Guinness World Records.
They set the new record on Australia Day, January 26, by doing 45 inside loops in a row—beating the old record of 24 that had stood since 2001.
David, who works as a helicopter pilot for the South Australian Police, said he hopes young people will be inspired to take up flying, calling it “one of the best things you can do in your life.”
