Italian Villages Sell Homes for $1: A New Hope for Americans Post-Trump Era

An Italian village is looking for upset Americans after Donald Trump won the election and wants to leave the U.S. This village, called Ollolai, has a special offer: homes for just one euro (about $1.06).

Located in central Sardinia, Ollolai hopes to boost its economy. In a statement on its website, the village said, “Do global politics wear you out? Do you want a more balanced lifestyle and new opportunities? It’s time to start building your dream escape in the beautiful paradise of Sardinia.”

Ollolai is surrounded by beautiful nature, great food, and a community with a rich history. It is part of an area known for its long life, called the Blue Zone. The village is perfect for relaxing, recharging, and starting a new life. They offer many properties, whether you want a one-euro house to fix up or a home ready to move into. The village will help guide you through every step, from viewing homes to finding contractors and dealing with paperwork.

Mayor Francesco Columbu told CNN that the website was created to attract American voters after the presidential election. He said he loves the United States and believes that Americans can help bring life back to his community. “We want to focus on Americans,” he stated. “While we can’t stop other countries from applying, Americans will have a faster process. We believe they are the key to reviving our village.”

The village currently offers three types of housing: free temporary homes for some digital workers, one-euro homes that need repairs, and move-in-ready homes costing up to 100,000 euros (about $105,000).

Ollolai has about 1,150 residents, but many families are leaving for work. The village also started a “Work from Ollolai” program to attract digital nomads. “The village is still half empty, and we have around 100 cheap homes available for sale,” the mayor said. “We have listed and mapped all of them, and photos will soon be online for buyers to check out.”
