What the Urdu Line Sorter Does

The Urdu Line Sorter takes a list where each line is an entry and puts the lines in order. It can sort alphabetically from alif onward, in reverse, or by how long each line is, and it can drop duplicate lines at the same time.

Sorting a list by hand is slow and easy to get wrong, especially in Urdu where the letter order differs from English. This tool orders your lines in a moment, so a jumbled list of names, words, or entries becomes clean and easy to scan.

How to Sort Lines in Urdu

1. Paste your list. Put one entry on each line. The direction switches on its own for right-to-left Urdu.
2. Choose an order. Pick alphabetical, reverse, or by line length from the menu.
3. Set the extras. Remove duplicates, ignore English case, trim spaces, or drop blank lines as needed.
4. Sort and copy. Press Sort Lines, then use Copy Result or Download to save the sorted list.

The Sort Orders Explained

Alphabetical order arranges your lines from alif to ye, following Urdu letter order rather than the English one. Reverse alphabetical does the same in the opposite direction, from ye back to alif.

Length order sorts by how many characters each line holds. Short to long puts the briefest lines first, and long to short puts the longest first. When two lines are the same length, they fall back to alphabetical order, so the result stays steady.

Duplicates, Case, and Trimming

Remove duplicate lines keeps only the first copy of each entry, which is handy for a list built from several sources. The result cards tell you how many copies were dropped.

Ignore case sorts English capitals and small letters together, so a name is not split by its first letter. Trim each line clears spaces at the start and end, and remove blank lines drops empty rows so they do not gather at the top or bottom of the sorted list.

Reading Your Results

The sorted lines appear in the box below, ready to copy or download. Above it, the cards show lines out, the number in the sorted list, lines in, the number you started with, and duplicates removed.

Comparing lines in and lines out tells you at a glance how much changed. If duplicates removed is high, your original list carried a lot of repeats that the sort has cleaned up.

Sorting Right-to-Left Urdu

Urdu is written right to left and uses its own letter order, so a simple sort built for English can put Urdu entries in the wrong place. This tool sorts with Urdu letter order in mind, so alif comes before bay and the list reads as a reader expects.

Because the sort works on the stored order of characters, mixed Urdu and English lines are handled together. The display may mirror each line for reading, but the order of the list itself follows the correct sequence.

Accuracy and Limits of the Sorter

The result is deterministic. The same list with the same options always sorts the same way. The tool orders lines only. It does not judge meaning, and it does not change the text inside a line beyond the trimming you choose.

Good to know: alphabetical order follows your browser’s Urdu sorting, which handles common letters well but may order rare marks or mixed scripts in its own way. For a strict standard, check the sorted result against the rule you need to follow.
